COACHES CODE OF CONDUCT

 

Commitment:

A coach’s commitment is to improve the performance of the players and team both physically and mentally.    A coach needs to provide a high quality soccer program for players within a positive environment and atmosphere.

Knowledge:

A coach must know the FIFA laws of the game and they must keep attuned to sound principles of coaching.

Respect:

Coaches must respect all human beings i.e., parents, players and game officials. Opponents and game officials must be treated with respect. Players must be coached within the laws of the game.

Enthusiasm:

Coaches must be enthusiastic and positive. They must ensure they are generous with their praise when deserved.

Personal Conduct:

Coaches must maintain high standards in conduct and fair play.  They should conduct themselves in a manner that reflects well on the West Lincoln Youth Soccer club.

Coaches should never be involved in any circumstance which is offensive or suggests sexual connotations. Coaches of girls’ team must have a woman on staff and a male on staff for boy’s teams.

 If a coach does not have a child on the team they must not give rides to players without another adult being present in the vehicle.

If the coach has a child on the team he or she may give a ride to a player with their child present, but the player must sit in the back seat.

A coach cannot take a child to the washroom alone.

A coach must not consume alcohol prior to or during interaction with his or her team. A coach must not smoke at any park or while in the company of their team and must encourage parents to do the same.
